Two Vatican Documents regarding
Reconciliation and Special Indulgences

The Vatican Apostolic Penitentiary has issued two documents on Special Indulgences and the Sacrament of Reconciliation relating to this time of the COVID-19 Coronavirus.
Click on the titles below to see these documents.

Decree of the Apostolic Penitentiary on the granting of special Indulgences to the faithful in the current pandemic.
The gift of special Indulgences is granted to the faithful suffering from COVID-19 disease, commonly known as Coronavirus, as well as to health care workers, family members and all those who in any capacity, including through prayer, care for them.

Note from the Apostolic Penitentiary on the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the current pandemic.
The gravity of the present circumstances calls for reflection on the urgency and centrality of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, together with some necessary clarifications, both for the lay faithful and for ministers called to celebrate the Sacrament.
Even in the time of COVID-19, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is administered in accordance with universal canon law and with the provisions of the Ordo Paenitentiae.

The Sacred Heart Church, in Wimbledon, a Roman Catholic parish in the Archdiocese of Southwark, and until recently served by the Jesuits of the British Province, welcomes you to our website. As one of the largest parishes in England, we hope this site highlights the dynamic community that has been a place of worship for over a century. At the heart of our parish are the many people of all ages who work, study, pray and share their lives together. We invite and encourage you to explore, discover and visit the Sacred Heart.
